Disputes China Sea, Vietnam Welcomes Foreign Aid

Vietnam welcomes all forms of assistance from the international community, including the United States (U.S.) in the case of the South China Sea. This statement was uttered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

Currently, central Vietnam combat exercises with real bullets in the South China Sea region. This is as reported by Reuters on Saturday (06/11/2011).

Tensions between Vietnam and China in this area increases. The two countries accuse each other in terms of violation of sovereignty. A few days ago, China has also sent warships to the area.

Although there will be no military clashes between the two countries, tensions would complicate the negotiation process and invite U.S. intervention. China also was argued by the Philippines in the disputed islands issue.

"To maintain security, stability, security and maritime safety is of interest to all countries within and outside the region," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Vietnam Nguyen Phuong Nga.

"Any action taken by the international community to maintain security and stability of this sea will welcome, the South China Sea is a strategic trade routes and rich in oil and gas reserves," he said.

Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also claim the territory in the South China Sea. However, China claims large areas of the region, including the Spratly and Paracel Islands.
