Taxi driver Greek Strike 24 Hours

Greek Taxi drivers across the strike for 24 hours. This strike was carried out as a protest related to the economic reform policies issued by the government.

Dozens of drivers parked their cars to the front of the Greek Parliament House today. They turn on the horn incessantly to cause a commotion. So reported the Associated Press on Wednesday (06/07/2011).

The Greek government argues that they issued a competitive policy in order to receive international assistance. This assistance is disbursed to prevent Greece sunk deeper into the abyss of economic crisis.

The policy includes rules issued profession whose incomes are close to an already defined or require a license. Professions included in the new rules affect the types of professions such as truck and taxi drivers, pharmacists, lawyers, and notaries.

The workers complained that they had obtained licenses to be expensive does not mean at all.

Following the crisis in Greece, EU finance ministers agreed to disburse a loan of 12 billion euros to Greece.

After a conference call some time ago, 17 ministers in the European Union agreed that funds amounting to 110 billion euro bailout approved for Greece on 10 May last year will be paid on 15 July. It is expected the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be approved on 8 July.

The payments allow Greece to avoid the threat of crisis is getting worse. Greeks today still requires a second rescue fund of 110 billion euro total.
