6 Injured Due to United Nations Peacekeeping Force Bombing

The bomb exploded on the roadside when a convoy of UN peacekeepers in Lebanon through a street. Six French peacekeepers reportedly injured in the incident.

The bomb exploded as the convoy passed in the city of Sidon. The UN Security Council (UNSC) to assess these attacks as acts of terrorism and condemns this action. So reported the Associated Press on Wednesday (27/07/2011).

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also condemned the attack peacekeepers to Lebanon (UNIFIL) is. The incident is considered to disrupt attacks and this was the second attack occurred in the last two months, and hit the UNIFIL forces.

It is unclear who is responsible for the attack. But the tension is growing in Lebanon. This is due to the UN tribunal's decision that indicted four Hezbollah men who committed the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri 2005.

Aware of the troops became casualties in this attack, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe also condemned the action. Juppe also urged the authorities to conduct investigation into the bomber.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati ordered an investigation. Parties to the UN Security Council also appreciates the steps taken by Prime Minister Mikati. UNIFIL is currently doing an investigation conducted jointly with the Lebanese Army.

Deadly attacks on UNIFIL troops last occurred in June 2007. When the bombs hit UN armored vehicle near the Israeli border. This attack led to six UN peacekeepers were killed.
