Talk Libya, Clinton Fly to Abu Dhabi

Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United States (U.S.) Hillary Clinton went to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to discuss the possibility of providing support for military action in Libya. Dialogue also discussed the provision of assistance to the Libyan opposition.

The meeting was conducted after President Clinton Barack Obama said the NATO mission in Libya continues to show progress. According to Obama, just waiting for time to Muammar Gaddafi resign from office. So reported AFP on Wednesday (06/08/2011).

It is estimated that between Clinton's meeting with Arab officials in Abu Dhabi will be based on the previous meeting in Rome, Italy May 5 last. This meeting will be reaffirmed Libya's assistance to the opposition and efforts to freeze assets belonging to Gaddafi.

A U.S. official said the delegation will also be discussing other issues, including implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1970 and 1970. Resolution 1970 mentions freezing assets and banning travel to the Gaddafi regime, including an arms embargo.

While Resolution 1973 discusses the mandate to protect civilians Libya, including air strikes against Khadafi loyalist troops. This resolution also sets no-fly zone over the region of Libya.

All this will be discussed at a meeting in Abu Dhabi. The International Group for Libya is often a meeting in Qatar. They discuss Libya under Gaddafi and all possibilities are being taken to accelerate the fall of Gaddafi.
