New York passes Gay Marriage

New York Senate, United States (USA) passed a same-sex marriage. This decision was certainly welcomed by the U.S. homosexuals, especially in New York.

The exit of decision menasbihkan New York as the sixth U.S. state to allow same-sex marriage officially and celebrated like a normal couple.

Group of homosexual rights activists hoped the decision could lead other states to issue a similar policy. This is a victory for gay New York, that ratification of this law was rejected in 2009.
Although New York is considered late to validate this rule, still, it is considered important. New York's large size and international reputation of this city, such as being a victory for homosexuals. So reported the Associated Press on Saturday (06/25/2011).

Because, in this city also became the birth of the gay rights movement. In 1967 ago, a demonstration demanding equal rights of gays in Greenwich Village sparked riots.

Party-controlled Senate by a Republican stronghold itself voted 33-29 to pass the new rules. Previous Democratic Party issued a similar rule last week, is expected to issue more specific rules about this kind of marriage.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has indeed been promising to pass such a rule. After the 30 days specified, gay couples in New York will be allowed to perform marriages officially.
