British writer Will Released from Prison in Singapore

A British writer who criticized the death penalty in Singapore will be released from prison in Singapore in July and returned to his country.

Alan Shandrake 75-year-old was arrested on June 1 for writing a book called Once a Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice in the Dock constituted contempt of court.

Shandrake lawyer said he would be released on July 9 and deported to London. Similarly, as quoted by Deutsche Presse on Thursday (06/23/2011).

Books written criticizing Shandrake arcing death penalty against criminal acts such as crimes of smuggling drugs into the city, possession of 15 grams of heroin will be subject to capital punishment.

In his book, Shandrake also accused the courts of Singapore are subject to government pressure and unfair.
