Cholera Kills 85 People in Somalia

The World Health Organization (WHO) said the cholera outbreak in Somalia has claimed lives of 85 people.

Afgoye and Baidoa town into the city's most severely infected by the epidemic. Banadir Hospital in Mogadishu reported the deaths of 85 people. So reported the Associated Press on Thursday (02/06/2011).

This deadly plague went into Somalia in April, approximately 2403 people affected by acute diarrhea and cholera, most of them are children under five years of age.

The disease is spread when the rainy season. A few weeks ago, Somalia was hit by drought and difficult for Somalis to gain access to clean water.

Somalia's government has not functioned for 20 years is difficult to provide adequate health care access for their citizens.
